A rescue mission is being planned to raise the Hubble Space Telescope’s orbit, according to the report. The effort is intended to keep the telescope in orbit while a replacement remains unavailable.
The report says no successor is expected to be in orbit before 2040. However, it does not identify who would be able to carry out the proposed mission.
