Apple is reportedly preparing three new iPad models for release during the first half of 2027. The expected lineup would include a new iPad Air, a successor to the 11th-generation iPad and an updated iPad Pro, according to Bloomberg columnist Mark Gurman.
The next iPad Air could adopt an OLED display, following the panel technology introduced with the 2026 iPad Mini. Further hardware details are not yet available, although the tablet is expected to move from the M4 chip to the M5.
Apple’s entry-level iPad is also expected to receive an update. The new model would replace the 11th-generation version launched in 2025. Information cited by 9to5Mac points to a possible A19 chip and 8GB of RAM, as well as support for Apple Intelligence features on the company’s most affordable tablet.
The iPad Pro could receive more substantial performance and thermal improvements. Gurman says the tablet is expected to become faster and may include a vapor chamber to help control temperatures during extended workloads, including gaming and artificial intelligence tasks.
The reported plans follow Apple’s October launch of a new iPad Mini with an OLED display. The 2026 compact tablet is described as the biggest update to the series so far, with slimmer bezels, a thinner design and IP67 certification. It uses the A20 Pro chip, also found in the iPhone 18 lineup, and outperformed the M5 iPad Pro in benchmark tests.
