Bethesda has confirmed that its next Elder Scrolls game will be called The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel. The announcement came in a video lasting less than 10 minutes to mark the 40th anniversary of Bethesda Game Studios.

Studio chief Todd Howard described this as the “perfect time” to reveal the game’s full name. Bethesda did not provide further information about Sentinel, and Xbox Wire’s announcement consisted of an image of the game’s logo.

More than eight years have passed since Bethesda first announced the sixth main Elder Scrolls game. The name reveal also comes as the series approaches the 15th anniversary of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s release.

The source report says Sentinel will be set in Hammerfell, a province featured in The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard and The Elder Scrolls Online. It also describes the game as exploring the history of the Elder Scrolls and the secrets of ancient artifacts.
