After more than eight years of waiting for concrete information, Bethesda has finally broken its silence regarding The Elder Scrolls VI. First announced at E3 2018, the next installment in the saga remained particularly quiet until this week. On November 3, 2026, the studio officially revealed the title as The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel during a special video celebrating the 40th anniversary of Bethesda Game Studios. This confirmation aligns with rumors that had circulated over recent months.

The announcement was part of an anniversary video reviewing the studio's history and productions, accompanied by a first look at Sentinel. The short teaser showcased desert landscapes and the game's official logo but did not provide extensive details about the RPG itself. The name Sentinel refers to a major port city located in Hammerfell, a region of Tamriel known as the homeland of the Redguards. While The Verge had reported in late October that the game would take place there, this is the first official confirmation from Bethesda.

The teaser concludes with a quote attributed to Yazar, a priest serving High Queen Iradne of Hammerfell, dated 206 of the Fourth Era. This serves as the sole official clue linking the game to the province and places the story five years after the events of Skyrim, which occurred in 201. Although Bethesda has not detailed the plot, these elements provide an initial understanding of the game's setting.

Currently, Bethesda has only confirmed the title. The video contains no actual gameplay footage, and the studio has not announced a release date, platforms, or a launch window. However, with the Game Awards scheduled for December 10, 2026, in Los Angeles, there is speculation that further details about the open world may be revealed at that event.
