Bethesda has revealed The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel as the title of its long-awaited role-playing game, eight years after first announcing the project. The announcement came in a video celebrating the studio’s 40th anniversary and confirmed that the game will take place in Hammerfell, the homeland of the Redguards.
In a post on X, Bethesda thanked fans for 40 years of shared memories and said development on Sentinel continues. The studio added that it will be some time before it can share further details, while describing the reveal of the game’s name and setting as a milestone.
The subtitle appeared in a teaser lasting just over a minute, alongside a passage about a glimpse of the future, an undone victory and the “sands of time” scattered by fate.
Hammerfell has featured in earlier entries in the series, including The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall, The Elder Scrolls Online and The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard. Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier said in response to the announcement that the RPG is more than two years away, suggesting that substantial news may not arrive until at least 2028.
Bethesda first announced The Elder Scrolls VI at E3 2018, alongside projects including Starfield, Fallout 76 and DOOM Eternal.
