BYD is preparing to bring the Bao 3, an all-electric SUV from its premium Denza brand, to Brazil in the coming weeks. The model was discussed at a dealer event in Argentina and is expected to be priced just below R$400,000. Autoesporte reports that it will be called the Bao 3 in Brazil.

Unlike the larger Denza B5, which uses a plug-in hybrid powertrain, the Bao 3 is fully electric and built on an 800-volt architecture. The move is part of BYD’s effort to expand its premium range in Brazil, with the SUV expected to become a key model for Denza as the brand grows its dedicated retail network.

The Bao 3 has two electric motors producing a combined 510 horsepower, with all-wheel drive and a claimed 0-to-100 km/h time of 4.7 seconds. Its 75.6-kWh Blade battery is rated for around 450 km of range under Brazil’s Inmetro cycle.

The SUV is also compatible with BYD’s Flash Charging network. According to the report, the system can charge the battery from 10% to 70% in five minutes and reach 97% in about nine minutes.

At 4.61 metres long, the Bao 3 has a squared-off exterior and a rear-mounted storage compartment in place of a conventional spare wheel. Listed features include Devialet audio, an integrated refrigerator with heating and cooling, a 12-inch head-up display and semi-autonomous driver-assistance systems.
