Casio’s Casiotone CT-FS1 is a portable electronic keyboard designed to help aspiring musicians play along with songs without worrying about pressing the wrong notes. Its Feel Sync technology adjusts the notes it produces to match a song’s harmony, leaving players to work on timing and rhythm.
To use the feature, players import a song file through Casio’s Feel Sync app, available for iOS and Android. An algorithm analyzes the song, and the keyboard then produces notes that fit its harmony regardless of which keys are pressed. The assistance can be switched off, allowing the CT-FS1 to be played as a standard keyboard.
The keyboard is available now for $399.99 in black or white, with 61 touch-responsive keys. It can run on AA batteries or a power adapter and weighs just under 10 pounds. Other features include built-in stereo speakers, Bluetooth connectivity and a headphone jack.
The CT-FS1 can also be divided into two zones, so two musicians can play at once. One zone works as a conventional keyboard, while the other applies Feel Sync corrections in real time.
