The Mosqueteiros Group has confirmed that seven Intermarché supermarkets in Portugal experienced incidents associated with a cyberattack against an external provider responsible for managing refrigeration systems.

The incidents concern equipment used to control refrigeration in stores. They come amid similar situations reported at supermarket chains in several European countries, including changes to the temperatures of refrigerators and freezers. However, a direct connection between all of these cases has not been established.

According to the group, the necessary procedures were activated in coordination with the partners responsible for maintaining the equipment. The measures are intended to limit the impact and restore normal operation of the affected systems as quickly as possible.

Mosqueteiros said that food products were not affected and that hygiene and food safety conditions remain guaranteed. The locations of the seven stores and further technical details about the incident have not been disclosed.
