Google Search is marking Nintendo’s remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time with an Easter egg that takes users back to the era when the original game launched on Nintendo 64 in 1998.
Searching for “Zelda” or “Ocarina of Time” displays an animation of the Master Sword in the corner of the page. Clicking or tapping the sword triggers a brief Triforce loading screen before the results switch to a retro presentation.
The transformed page features blue hyperlinks, short excerpts and results arranged by apparent relevance. It also restores the classic “I’m Feeling Lucky” button, which sends users directly to a random webpage.
The effect appears to be limited to searches related to the game. Searching for other topics returns users to Google’s current results interface, including its newer AI-focused features.
The Easter egg offers a nostalgic look at an earlier version of Google Search, while also highlighting how much the service has changed. Users who want a more traditional results page can select the Web tab, which displays relevant webpages without the AI Overview section. The TenBlueLinks website also provides guides for making that type of result the default Google experience in a browser.
