Huawei’s Watch D3 is designed to make blood pressure checks part of everyday smartwatch use. It is medically certified and registered with Portugal’s INFARMED for ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM), although its readings are intended as a reference and do not replace advice from a healthcare professional or provide a diagnosis.

Rather than estimating blood pressure with optical sensors, the Watch D3 uses an oscillometric measurement system. A micro-pump inflates a thin, double-layer air cushion built into the strap. During a manual check, the wearer rests their hand against their chest at heart level and stays still for a few seconds. The watch then displays systolic and diastolic pressure alongside pulse rate. It also checks the wearer’s posture and can warn if the arm is positioned incorrectly or the strap is loose.

The device supports scheduled measurements over 24 hours, including during sleep, to track changes across the day and night. Its review highlights potential uses such as identifying morning peaks, changes in nighttime blood pressure or readings affected by stress during a clinic visit. The watch can also measure blood pressure before and after exercise, alongside tracking more than 100 sports, including running, cycling, golf and trail activities.

The Watch D3 is 11.3 mm thick and weighs 75 grams with its strap. It has a 1.92-inch AMOLED display with peak brightness of 3,000 nits. Huawei includes a measuring tape to help users select the appropriate air-cushion size, as well as two straps.

Health Glance provides a 60-second overview of 11 measurements and assessments, including ECG, heart rate, heart rate variability, blood oxygen saturation, skin temperature and vascular indicators. It also includes stress and emotional-wellbeing measures and screening for hyperuricemia and diabetes risk. The watch can suggest a new blood pressure check after a temperature change of more than 10°C or a move to a higher altitude.

Other features include Bluetooth calls, contactless payments through Curve Pay and compatibility with Android and iOS phones. Huawei states that battery life can reach up to six days on a charge. The recommended price in Portugal is €449. The source review also lists a €20 discount with the code A20D3PPL for PPLWare readers through November 30.
