Nagoshi Studio has officially ceased operations less than a year after announcing Gang of Dragon, its first game. The company was founded by Toshihiro Nagoshi, known for creating the Yakuza series, and announced its dissolution in Japan's official gazette, Kanpo, following a shareholders meeting on October 31.

Nagoshi Studio unveiled the first trailer for Gang of Dragon in December 2025. The game was presented as a new take on organized crime in Tokyo's Kabuchiko district, with Shin Ji-Seong as its protagonist and a potentially more serious tone than Nagoshi's previous work.

The project later faced financial uncertainty. According to a Bloomberg report cited in the original coverage, NetEase withdrew its funding, while the game reportedly needed more than $44 million to be completed. Nagoshi Studio was consequently seeking additional financial backing.

Following the company's closure, the studio will liquidate its assets and address its liabilities, according to the notice published in Kanpo. Gang of Dragon's Steam page remains available, but the game's release prospects are now unclear.
