Netflix is testing AI Discover, an experimental feature designed to help viewers find films and series suited to their mood or situation. The tool is initially available to selected users in the United States through the TV app.
Viewers can choose prompts such as “Something light,” “Family night” or “Short films.” If those options do not lead to a suitable pick, they can explore more specific topics or select “Something else” to receive additional suggestions. A “Customize recommendations” button lets users provide input on their preferences.
Netflix says the AI responds to feedback in real time and is intended to learn users’ tastes over time. The company’s existing recommendations have relied mainly on viewing activity and ratings.
AI Discover remains a trial, and Netflix has not said whether it will become a standard feature. The company has also not announced if or when it might launch in Germany. Users in the test can find the feature through a “Discover” button, marked with a red gemstone icon, in the TV app’s top navigation bar.
The test comes as Netflix looks to encourage more viewing. The company is also planning to expand its content, including podcasts and live sports broadcasts. Netflix is developing other features aimed at increasing subscriber engagement, though it has not provided further details about them.
