Netflix has introduced AI Discover, a new tab that uses artificial intelligence to suggest films and series based on subscribers’ moods and preferences. The feature also takes into account how much time viewers have to watch and is initially available in the platform’s TV app.
Recommendations are arranged by theme, with each category accompanied by a video preview. Options include “Something Light” and “Scare Me,” as well as “Family Movie Night” and “Quick Watches.” The tab also features suggestions connected to recent releases and viewing history.
After choosing a theme, subscribers receive a list of related titles. They can refine their search or select “Something Different” to see other suggestions. Netflix says it will explain why each title was recommended.
The company has also added a “Tune Your Recommendations” button beside the “Play” and “My List” options. Subscribers can use it to save a recommendation or indicate that they do not want to see suggestions for that title again. The system learns from users’ choices and updates recommendations in real time.
AI Discover is being tested as a way to evaluate new discovery features through subscriber use and feedback. Netflix says tools that perform well may later be added to the service’s main interface.
The rollout has begun in the United States with a limited group of subscribers who use Netflix in English on compatible TVs. Distribution is expected to expand gradually over the following weeks. For users who have access, the tab appears at the top of the TV app interface under “Discover,” with a red gem icon and a “New” label.
