Nvidia plans to add DLSS 5 to RTX Remix on October 23. The free modding platform lets users update older games with features including ray tracing and AI-upscaled textures; the new addition will let modders apply NVIDIA’s Neural Rendering technology to those titles.
DLSS 5 makes substantial changes to in-game character lighting, a feature that has divided players who argue it can undermine a game’s original visual style. The technology is also demanding to run: the article reports frame-rate drops of 30 to 60 percent in some games when it is enabled through third-party tools, though a recent update improved performance in NBA 2K27.
NVIDIA is also set to bring DLSS 5 to its RTX Spark system-on-a-chip on October 16. The technology is due to be officially added to Hogwarts Legacy on November 5. The article notes that the visual changes shown in recent Hogwarts Legacy images appear less pronounced than in the initial reveal.
Community-made tools can already inject DLSS 5 into many PC games on systems with an NVIDIA RTX graphics card. However, these unofficial modifications may not work with games that rely on anti-cheat software: the article’s test of GTA V: Enhanced Edition, for example, was blocked by BattlEye.
