OpenAI has expanded its student offer to France, following its launch in the United States and Canada. Eligible students can claim €50 in ChatGPT credits through UNiDAYS after confirming their status with a university email address. The amount is equivalent to 1,250 credits, according to the offer details reported by Numerama.

The credits are not a general balance for everyday use of ChatGPT. They apply mainly to OpenAI’s agent-style features once a user reaches the limits included in their plan. These include Codex, which can write, revise and document code, as well as ChatGPT Work and ChatGPT for Excel. Regular ChatGPT conversations are excluded.

The offer may be most useful to students who code and want to try Codex. No subscription is required to claim the additional usage, but the French offer is smaller than OpenAI’s reported $100 credit offer in the United States, while Google is offering French students a year of Google AI Plus.
