People do not age at the same pace. Some retain physical abilities as they grow older, while others experience declines in areas such as cognition, organ function, muscle strength and immune health. Biological age describes how a person’s ageing compares with that of others of the same chronological age.

Existing methods for estimating biological age can be costly and time-consuming. So-called ageing clocks look for different signs of ageing, but may require DNA or blood samples, vital measurements, or brain imaging. According to t3n, researchers are examining whether information in a person’s voice could offer another way to assess biological age.
