A Ryanair aircraft landed at Lisbon's Humberto Delgado Airport on the morning of November 1 after flames were detected inside the cabin. The incident involved flight FR3610, operated by a Boeing 737-800 registered as 9H-QFB, which was flying from Brussels-Charleroi to Lisbon.
According to reports from Aviação TV and Correio da Manhã, the fire may have been caused by a power bank carried in a passenger's hand luggage. The incident occurred at around 9:00 a.m.
Lisbon's emergency services were called to the airport as a precaution. The Lisbon Sapadores Bombeiros Regiment said the crew had already managed to put out the flames before the emergency response was mobilized.
The fire reportedly damaged part of the cabin floor and a seat positioned in front of the location where it began. After landing, the aircraft remained on the runway for several minutes before moving under its own power to a service area.
The plane is expected to remain in Lisbon while inspections and repairs are carried out. No information about possible injuries had been released at the time of the report.
The incident highlights the risks associated with lithium batteries in electronic devices and power banks, particularly if they are damaged, overheat or short-circuit. External batteries are generally subject to specific air-travel rules and are normally required to be carried in cabin baggage rather than checked luggage.
