Samsung may make few changes to the camera hardware in its next generation of foldables, according to a leak by Korean tipster Lanzuk, also known as yeux1122, published on Naver. The report says the Galaxy Z Fold 9 and Galaxy Z Fold 9 Ultra are expected to use camera setups similar to those in the current models.
The Galaxy Z Fold 9 Ultra is tipped to retain a 200 MP main camera, a 50 MP ultrawide camera and a telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. The leak does not specify the telephoto sensor’s resolution, but the report suggests it could remain at 10 MP, as on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. The rumored setup would also leave the next Ultra without a periscope camera or a longer optical zoom range.
The standard Galaxy Z Fold 9 is also said to keep its predecessor’s camera hardware. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 has a 50 MP main camera and a 50 MP ultrawide camera. If Samsung reuses those components, any improvements to image quality could instead come from image processing or software features.
Samsung has not confirmed the specifications of either upcoming phone. The camera details remain based on leaks.
