Stellantis Pro One has officially introduced its new Smart Compact Van line to the market, a solution developed from the ground up for professionals and fleets with a strong national focus. Produced at the Mangualde factory in Portugal, these new compact vans are set to debut on Portuguese roads through a European tour before deliveries commence later this month.
The proposal encompasses four brands within the group: the Citroën Berlingo Van FIRST, FIAT Professional Doblò EasyPRO, Opel Combo START, and PEUGEOT Partner ACTIVE. The development of this concept was driven by real-world usage data across Europe, which indicates that 90% of professionals drive alone in their daily routine and 40% do not require the standard three-seat configuration. Consequently, the interior has been restructured to prioritize ergonomics and productivity.
Key features include the Flexiseat, a modular passenger seat that folds down to extend cargo space, and the Modutable, an optional work desk or support system manufactured in Portugal by Simoldes that transforms the passenger area into a mobile office during stops. The vehicle also features a removable central console called the Moduconsole, which can be stored in the rear compartment. Smart storage solutions include a Dashbox panel with cup holders and closed compartments, as well as a Drivedrawer under the seat for keeping laptops or tablets out of sight. Additionally, an integrated 220V outlet is available on board to power and charge tools or mobile devices.
Dimensionally, the vans maintain the brand's standard measurements, offering two body lengths, a useful load capacity of up to 650 kg, and a cargo volume ranging between 3.3 and 4.4 cubic meters. The multi-energy platform supports various usage profiles with electric, diesel, and upcoming hybrid options. The fully electric version features a 100 kW (136 hp) motor powered by a 42 kWh battery, offering up to 270 km of autonomy. Diesel engines are available in 100 hp (74 kW) and 130 hp (96 kW) variants paired with manual transmissions. A 48V mild-hybrid version is confirmed for introduction in 2027.
With a launch campaign valid until the end of the year, the Smart Compact Van range includes a standard 10-inch touchscreen radio and a rear-view camera. Diesel versions start at €16,900 plus VAT, while the fully electric version begins at €17,658 plus VAT. Holding over 59% of the market share for compact vans in Portugal, Stellantis reinforces the industrial weight of the Mangualde unit in leading the light commercial vehicle segment.
