Nintendo’s remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is scheduled to launch on Switch 2 on November 5, 28 years after the original game debuted on Nintendo 64. The updated release gives the classic adventure a more realistic visual style while retaining many elements of the original, according to the available coverage of the game.

The remake adds a dedicated jump button and the ability to sprint, alongside full voice acting. Its Threads of Time feature helps players keep track of their progress. The original Roll Attack also remains: players can still repeatedly roll across Hyrule Field, with a dash option added as well.

Nintendo developers said they wanted to preserve the experience of the original while updating how it plays. Art director Aya Shida said the new visual style drew inspiration from puppet shows and practical-effects films, whose stylized approach can make fantasy worlds feel convincing.

Nintendo has also announced a special Switch 2 and Switch 2 Pro Controller featuring Triforce imagery to mark the game’s release. A separate Zelda Notes feature, accessed through the Nintendo Switch app, provides game maps and other information on a phone.
