Arkane Studios could leave Microsoft as Xbox considers offers for the developer, according to a Bloomberg report. Ubisoft is among the companies said to have made a bid, alongside at least two other unnamed gaming businesses.
Xbox has also considered selling Arkane to its own management. A company representative told Bloomberg that Xbox was exploring options ahead of a December deadline but did not provide further details.
Arkane was reportedly among the studios potentially affected by Xbox’s July layoffs, amid speculation that its current project could be canceled. A change of ownership could give the studio a chance to continue developing its game based on Marvel’s Blade. The project was announced in 2023 with a cinematic trailer.
Ubisoft has also faced layoffs this year, announcing cuts in January, March, June and October, according to the report.
