A new platform called Valor Clássico is designed to organize market data and provide estimated prices for classic cars. Its beta version was launched on November 1 and has been described as a potential equivalent of the FIPE Table for older vehicles.

The platform was developed by journalist and designer Vinícius Ribeiro, based on academic research that began approximately five years ago during his second degree at Fatec in São Paulo. It currently brings together information from more than 30 sources, including portals, marketplaces and specialized dealers.

Valor Clássico processes the information in four stages. It first collects vehicle listings available online, then classifies them by model, year and version. The system subsequently removes duplicate advertisements, listings without prices and inconsistent records. Before applying statistical formulas designed for the dispersion found in the classic-car market, it also excludes extreme values.

Users can consult data at three levels: by model; by model and year; or by model, year and version. A result is shown only when the selected category has at least four valid listings. If that minimum is not met, the platform does not provide an estimated value.

The calculation does not take into account factors such as originality, provenance, mileage, condition or the quality of a restoration. These characteristics can affect the price of an individual vehicle but are outside the platform’s current criteria.

Among its planned next steps is expanding the use of the collected data beyond consultations by collectors and sellers. The project may eventually provide a basis for financial products aimed at the classic-car market, including insurance, consortia and financing.
