Windows 11 includes a little-known menu that can make system management and troubleshooting faster. Known as the Quick Link Menu or Windows-X Menu, it gathers shortcuts to several important tools in one place.

Users can open it by pressing Win+X. The menu appears on the left side of the screen, above the Windows button on the taskbar. Alongside familiar options such as Settings, File Explorer, Search and shutdown controls, it includes tools that are otherwise found in less visible parts of Windows.

These options include Installed Apps, System, Power Options, Network Connections, Mobility Center, Event Viewer, Disk Management, Computer Management and Task Manager. Bringing them together can reduce the need to search through Settings or remember separate keyboard shortcuts.

The menu can also be customized through File Explorer. Entering %LOCALAPPDATA%MicrosoftWindowsWinX in the address bar opens the location containing three folders with the shortcuts used by the menu. Shortcuts can be moved or renamed, and additional ones can be added by dragging applications into those folders.

Among the most useful entries for troubleshooting is Task Manager. It can close unresponsive programs, show activity through the Processes tab and help identify unnecessary startup programs through the Startup tab.

Event Viewer is another potentially useful option. For issues such as random crashes, file corruption or suspected hardware problems, users can open it from the Win+X menu and go to Windows Logs > System > Filter Current Log. Selecting MemoryDiagnostics-Results under Event Sources displays available results from the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool.

Disk Management provides information about the computer’s active disk partitions, while Mobility Center offers laptop users controls for display, keyboard and wireless settings. Together, these tools make the Quick Link Menu a practical starting point for managing Windows 11 and investigating certain system problems.
