A Reddit user has released TVPort, an open-source project designed to recompile Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 games for Apple TV 4K using a Mac. The project is a fork of the nxnative toolkit, and its creator, u/FloatingFalafel, said Claude Opus 5.5 was used in its development.

The creator reports that some games need additional fixes because they handle texture memory differently. TVPort also offers save-file backups to a Mac or iCloud and lets users select target frame rates of 30 or 60 frames per second, according to the project description.

Super Mario Odyssey is reported to run at 60 fps, with occasional minor stutters and some audio problems near waterfalls. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is limited to 30 fps; u/FloatingFalafel said they had not encountered issues with it.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom remains a challenge. During tests, it experienced thermal throttling on Apple TV, and its creator said substantial diagnostics and partial engine rewrites may be needed. They also cautioned that demanding games such as Tears of the Kingdom might never run on the third-generation Apple TV 4K.

TVPort does not include game files. Users who want to try it must supply their own, obtained from their Switch cartridges, the project’s creator said.

AI-assisted game porting and decompilation have drawn criticism. The operators of decomp.dev recently said they were shutting down the site, arguing that misuse of AI had damaged its community. Anthropic has also instructed Claude Code not to recreate existing games.
