Prime Video is generating an annual revenue run rate in the tens of billions of dollars and is profitable as a standalone business, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said during the company’s third-quarter earnings call. Amazon had previously said the service was profitable but had not put a figure on its revenue outlook.

The business remains difficult to assess from Amazon’s published accounts. The company groups Prime Video’s subscription, advertising, rental and content sales across several broader reporting categories. Its 2024 annual report also said that video content, both produced and licensed, is monetized as a single unit in major markets where Prime is available.

Amazon does disclose spending on video and music. It reported $5.9 billion in costs for those areas in the third quarter of 2026, and $18.8 billion for the first nine months of the year—20% more than in the same period of 2025.

The revenue figure offers a rare glimpse of Prime Video’s scale, but it is not a directly comparable profit or revenue breakdown. Netflix reported $12.9 billion in third-quarter revenue and an operating margin of 34.6%, while Disney said Disney+ and Hulu generated $712 million in earnings in the quarter ended June 27, with a 12.9% margin.

Jassy has pointed to the service’s programming and sports as drivers of its business. Amazon said the fourth season of Reacher drew 66 million viewers in its first 28 days. The company also cited the box-office performance of Project Hail Mary, which grossed $683.6 million worldwide, and the arrival of NBA games on Prime Video as potential support for advertising growth.
