Apple’s watchOS 27.3 developer beta, rolling out now, adds two Audio Intelligence features that use the Apple Watch’s microphone: Siri Recap and Live Rewind. Apple describes the tools as using ambient listening to help users review conversations.
Live Rewind displays the previous 15 seconds of detected audio as text when a user double-presses the Digital Crown. Users can ask Siri about the text or save it in the Siri app to revisit later. Siri Recap can create a conversation title and key points in the app after a conversation, if the feature is enabled.
Apple has also released a privacy overview for Audio Intelligence. The company says raw audio is processed in dedicated hardware, is not saved as a file, and is inaccessible to the operating system, apps and Apple. If users choose to save a recap or text snippet, Apple says it syncs across their devices with end-to-end encryption when they use iCloud with two-factor authentication and a device passcode.
