iOS 27 puts a strong emphasis on bug fixes, stability and performance improvements, including faster app launches and AirDrop transfers, according to the source. The update also adds several features worth exploring, many of them powered by Apple Intelligence.

The first is the ability to create Shortcuts using natural-language prompts. In the Shortcuts app, tap the plus button and describe what you want an automation to do. Apple Intelligence can assemble the actions, which users can then adjust manually. Shortcuts can also use AI models for tasks such as extracting information, summarizing or generating text and documents; cloud models have daily usage limits.

Wallet now supports custom passes, making it possible to add some tickets or membership cards even when their issuer does not provide an Apple Wallet pass. On supported iPhones, users can add a pass from an image or screenshot containing a barcode. Alternatively, they can choose “Create a Pass” in Wallet and photograph the relevant card or ticket, allowing Visual Intelligence to extract its details.

Siri AI is another major addition, though it remains in beta and requires a compatible iPhone. Users can join the waitlist through Settings. The updated assistant is described as better at understanding requests and follow-up questions, and it can draw on personal information in messages, emails and photos. Support for third-party apps remains limited. The Camera app also includes a Siri mode that uses Visual Intelligence to answer questions about what the camera sees.

For compatible AirPods, iOS 27 introduces a system-wide equalizer. It works with AirPods 4 and newer, AirPods Pro 2 and newer, and AirPods Max 2. After connecting the earbuds or headphones, users can find the controls under Settings, then their AirPods, followed by Audio & Routing and Equalizer. Alongside the default Recommended profile, a Custom setting lets users adjust bass, mids and treble.

Safari gains three AI-assisted tools. Users can ask the browser to notify them when a webpage changes, which can help track things such as prices or ticket availability. Safari can also automatically group open tabs into topics, while a “Describe Extension” option lets users request a custom extension for a particular task.
