A user known as “touhofagyuri” has posted videos showing Nintendo Switch 2 games Mario Kart World and Pokémon Pokopia running on the original Switch. The demonstrations follow a new step in unlocking the newer console, but the games remain far from smooth on the older hardware.
Mario Kart World initially struggled to run and later encountered rendering problems. Making it playable required precompiled shaders, a lower resolution and forcing the Level of Detail setting. Even with those adjustments, the game stutters and some sections of the map are missing.
Pokémon Pokopia also needed reduced settings: the Switch was overclocked, the resolution lowered to 720p and the frame rate capped at 30 FPS. Touhofagyuri said the game still has problems on the console, though brief tests showed a positive result.
The user has not said whether other games were tested. They also said the code would not be released publicly for legal reasons, describing the work as a demonstration and advising people who want to play the game to buy it officially.
