Fritz has published a product-support list showing the date until which its routers and repeaters are guaranteed to receive updates. Several models have already passed that date, although this does not necessarily mean they will stop receiving all updates immediately.

The Fritzbox 7490, for example, passed its guaranteed support date on October 1, 2025, but received FritzOS 7.62 in January 2026. That update did not add new features. The report notes that continued support for other models is uncertain, so owners may want to keep an eye on their devices.

The listed Fritzbox models whose guaranteed update periods have ended are the DSL models 7560 and 7580, both since January 1, 2025; the 7490, since October 1, 2025; and the 7582, since October 1, 2026. Cable models include the 6590 Cable, since October 1, 2024; the 6430 Cable, since July 1, 2025; and the 6490 Cable, since January 1, 2026. The fiber models 5491 and 5490 passed their dates on April 1 and October 1, 2026, respectively. The Fritzbox 4020, which has no built-in modem, passed its date on October 1, 2026. The WLAN Repeater 1750E has also been without updates since October 1, 2025.

A device does not stop working when its support period ends, but unpatched security vulnerabilities could leave a home network more exposed. Replacing an unsupported model with a current one is therefore advisable, particularly for devices that are no longer listed by Fritz. The report identifies the Fritzbox 7390, 7362 SL, 7412, 7430, 3490 and 6840 LTE as examples of models that may have gone without security updates for some time.

Owners can check their router’s model and type on the label underneath the device or in its browser-based interface at fritz.box. The interface also shows the installed FritzOS version; the report identifies FritzOS 8.50 as the latest version.
