About four in five Anthropic employees could become millionaires following the company’s planned stock market debut, according to estimates cited by The Observer from financial platform Hill. The analysis puts the number at roughly 4,250 people out of the 5,300 employees listed in Anthropic’s S-1 filing. The estimate is not an official company figure.
Anthropic has filed its registration document with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Bloomberg has reported that the company is aiming to go public around mid-November, though neither a specific date nor an offering price has been set. Reports put its potential valuation between $1.5 trillion and $2 trillion.
Hill’s estimates assume a valuation of $1.5 trillion and divide employees into several groups. Around 50 early employees and executives could see their holdings exceed $100 million, while roughly 1,200 highly skilled employees and researchers could hold shares worth more than $10 million. Another 3,000 employees could cross the $1 million mark. About 1,000 employees would remain below that level.
Anthropic’s seven co-founders are not included among the newly minted millionaires: they are already billionaires, according to the report. Forbes estimates that each holds about 1.4% of the company. At a valuation of $1.5 trillion to $2 trillion, that stake would be worth between $27 billion and $29 billion per founder. Together, they control about 10% of the company’s equity and hold a special share carrying 50.1% of shareholder voting rights.
Employees will not be able to sell their shares immediately after the IPO. Their shares are expected to become available in stages beginning in January 2027, and Anthropic plans to use some of the funds it raises to cover taxes on employee shares. The estimates also do not mean staff will receive the value of their holdings all at once.}
