The new Omoda E5 has officially arrived at Brazilian dealerships on November 5th, launching in two distinct versions with an aggressive pricing strategy. The entry-level Elite version is priced at R$159,990, while the higher-spec Prestige model costs R$184,990. This pricing places a mid-sized electric SUV in a price bracket typically occupied by smaller models, intensifying competition with other Chinese brands such as GWM Ora 5, BYD Yuan Pro, and Geely EX5.
Under the hood, the SUV is equipped with a front-mounted electric motor delivering 210 horsepower. The vehicle offers two battery configurations depending on the version selected. The Elite trim utilizes a 50.6 kWh battery pack, providing an autonomy of 278 km according to the Inmetro cycle. The Prestige version features a larger 60.9 kWh battery, extending the range to up to 320 km under the same testing standards. These figures are noted to be lower than the 430 km reported in the WLTP cycle.
Charging capabilities vary between the two trims, with maximum DC power reaching 110 kW for the Elite and 130 kW for the Prestige. The manufacturer states that charging from 30% to 80% takes approximately 16 minutes for the Elite configuration and 28 minutes for the Prestige. Both versions support AC charging and include a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function, allowing users to power external equipment using the vehicle's stored energy.
Inside the cabin, the Omoda E5 emphasizes technology and comfort with large displays and comprehensive safety features. The Elite version combines a 12.3-inch instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch central multimedia screen. The Prestige trim upgrades this to an 8.8-inch instrument panel and a larger 15.6-inch UHD central display. Both configurations offer wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with wireless phone charging. Additional features in the Prestige version include a panoramic sunroof, 18-inch wheels, and front seats with electric adjustment, heating, ventilation, and a massage function for the driver. The audio system in this top tier is provided by Sony with eight speakers.
Safety equipment includes seven airbags across both versions, while the Prestige model adds 18 driving assistance features. Omoda backs the vehicle with a seven-year warranty for the car and an eight-year warranty for the battery. This combination of price, range, and equipment aims to attract consumers seeking a more spacious electric SUV without moving into higher investment brackets.
