Control-resonant/">Control Resonant has become the fastest-selling launch in Remedy Entertainment’s history, according to the studio’s latest financial report. After the game’s release, Remedy recorded a 226% increase in third-quarter revenue, which reached as much as €44.3 million.
The company’s latest sales update put the game at 1 million copies sold, with the United States accounting for a large share of the market and the United Kingdom also contributing considerably. Remedy CEO Jean-Charles Gaudechon described the release as a decisive milestone for the studio.
Half of Control Resonant’s players had not tried the first Control, Remedy said. Gaudechon called bringing in new players the game’s central mission and said the early results point to a growing audience for both the franchise and the studio. The new game also boosted sales of the original, though Remedy did not provide figures for that increase.
Gaudechon said the game had achieved its main goal and that the team was pleased with the result. He also noted that Control Resonant remains on the wish lists of 2.4 million players. Remedy did not say whether it plans to attract those potential buyers through updates, downloadable content or discounts.
The CEO credited strong player reviews, reach across target markets, the game’s substantial wish-list audience, organic visibility and marketing efforts for giving it a solid foundation for long-term potential. He added that the positive results would support development of other projects, including the Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes, which do not yet have release dates.
