Volkswagen has begun studying the possibility of bringing the ID.Cross to the Brazilian market. Considered the electric version of the T-Cross, the model would not be expected in Brazil before 2028, according to information reported by Autoesporte, and its arrival could depend on an adaptation carried out in China.

The current assessment is that importing the vehicle as it is would not make it possible to sell it in Brazil at a competitive price, particularly given the competition among compact electric SUVs. One possible alternative would be to adapt the vehicle in China, where Volkswagen has joint ventures with JAC, FAW and SAIC.

Such a process could result in an ID.Cross with differences from the European version, while allowing for different manufacturing costs and a price adapted to the Brazilian market. However, the study is expected to take time and would require a concrete result from the Chinese operation.

The ID.Cross measures 4.15 meters in length, 1.79 meters in width and has a 2.60-meter wheelbase, making it slightly smaller than the T-Cross sold in Brazil. Volkswagen recently introduced an entry-level version of the electric model in Europe to compete with Chinese cars.

The entry-level version uses motors producing between 116 and 135 horsepower, a 37 kWh battery and a range of up to 324 kilometers under the WLTP standard. The higher-specification version has a 52 kWh battery, a 211-horsepower motor and a range of 426 kilometers.

Although the ID.Cross is not yet confirmed for Brazil, Volkswagen has already confirmed plans to manufacture hybrid vehicles that operate like electric cars within urban areas.
