Some iPhone Duo owners have reportedly experienced cracks in the device’s inner display shortly after purchase. The cause remains unclear. After examining the phone, iFixit employees identified a support component designed to protect the screen as a possible source of the problem.

Apple has described the issue as affecting only a “small number” of devices. However, according to MacRumors, the company has sent a memo to Apple Store employees and authorized resellers outlining how to respond when customers bring in a damaged iPhone Duo.

Technicians are reportedly instructed to inspect the affected device and then repair or replace it according to standard procedures. It is not known whether the memo was distributed only to stores and retailers in the United States or worldwide. The total number of affected phones also remains unknown.

Apple has not announced a recall or a dedicated service program for the issue. For now, the company’s stated guidance is that customers with the defect should contact AppleCare to request a replacement device.
